E-invoicing in the EU
In the EU, some businesses and all public administrations use the European standard on eInvoicing. All public administrations in the EU can receive electronic invoices for public procurement contracts. Some EU countries have made it mandatory for suppliers to submit eInvoices for the same procedure. According to EU consensus, it is optional for your business to adopt eInvoicing as a standard with other businesses.
However, each EU country has defined their own rules on how eInvoicing works, and it could be mandatory to send eInvoices for public contracts in some countries.
eInvoicing standards in EU include PEPPOL (EU/cross-border), ZUGFeRD - XRechung (Germany), Facturae (Spain), Verifactu (Spain), FatturaPA (Italy), FACT1 (Romania), and EN16931 (Generic). You can review specific rules by country in the EU eInvoicing factsheets.
We are currently working on adding support for EU eInvoicing in Hiveage. However, these features are not scheduled to be available before mid-2026.
